"It cares for children who need protection, those facing emotional crisis or are otherwise at risk"

While we try to provide support for children in their home environment, there are, unfortunately, some children who are unable to receive adequate care from their parents or relatives in their own homes.

Infant Jesus Centre provides residential care for children between the ages of 2½ and 13 years. Children are accepted into the residential care programme when they meet our eligibility requirements: low income (family income less than $1500 per month), need for protection and care, children are in moral danger. Usually, in these cases, the heads of the households may be physically or mentally unfit; families may be going through separation or divorce and/or there is repeated abuse, violence and neglect taking place in the family.

In addition, the Centre also runs an "Out of School Hours" Programme. This programme provides care and educational support for children before and after school hours and during school holidays. The family situation of these children are more stable than those in the residency programme. Their parents or guardians tend to be single, have low educational qualification, face emotional and social problems like family violence or poor money management skills, or suffer from physical or mental disabilities. However, for these children, they are able to return home every day, as there is either a parent or a family member who is able to care for them after work hours. These children also live in and around the Clementi area.

At present, there are 8 children in its residential programme and 12 children in its Out of School Hours Care Programme. We also offer aid to families in financial difficulties.
