"The Home is family for these residents. It helps them to establish contact with the wider community"

Infant Jesus Home at Ang Mo Kio is a community home for disabled, middle-aged and elderly women who were abandoned when they were babies or very young children at the former CHIJ, Victoria Street. As their families cannot be located or found, we will continue to care for them.

At the Home, all their needs are provided for as most of them cannot be employed. Simple therapies are designed for them so that they remain active and healthy.

The home moved in 1983 to its current location. For the residents, this is the home they have known since their childhood. We help them to establish contact with the wider community through visits to the Home or outings. While they have not known the joy and warmth of family life, they live as a supportive community and continue to find strength in their faith.

It is heartening to note that the residents of the IJ Home have not been left out of the IJ schools’ annual celebrations and concerts. The 11 IJ schools appreciate that the residents at the Infant Jesus Home are significant members of our IJ community. It is with this in mind that the schools and alumni include the residents in some of their celebrations such as IJ Choral night and at Christmas.

Crisis Shelter

A crisis shelter located within the home is open to youth and families served by our Centres and the CHIJ Schools. It provides:

  • Support for those facing crises
  • Short-term shelter for those who are in crisis
  • Practical assistance through networking in the community
