THE IJ VILLAGE
From the ‘GATE OF HOPE’ to the ‘VILLAGE OF HOPE’
Reaching Out to MORE At-Risk Children
At The IJ Village, our aim is to build a safe, familial environment in which our children can find a home away from home and a family outside their own families. We intend to reach out and impact more young lives in our community.
The IJ Village will be the place where marginalized children and their families are able to truly ‘call their own’. Not only are we planning to care and provide guidance to the children, we aim to engage and increase family involvement in the process. This is indeed a haven where they can learn, live, play and grow in an environment conducive for their overall development. We will be better able to reach out and cater to the increased number of children and families in the neighbourhood and positively impact their lives.
The IJ Village (at 503 Ang Mo Kio Street 13) is currently still under construction and is due to be completed by end of June 2013. This year-long additions and alteration works at an estimated cost of S$4.5million will provide us with facilities such as rooms for the residential programmes, classrooms, music hall, dance & performance arts room, training kitchen and pottery room – all of which are essential for the services and programmes we plan to offer. The infrastructure (at IJ Home) will be strengthened and the residential rooms of the Community Home for the Elderly, Residential Programme and Crisis Shelter upgraded.
SERVICES AND PROGRAMMES to be offered at the Village are aimed to enhance the overall well-being of the beneficiaries and these include
• Community Home for the elderly residents
• Residential Programme for Children and Teenagers
• Crisis Shelter for Children and Teenagers
• Skills Enhancement Programmes – Literacy, IT and Culinary
